RATs are now used to diagnose an active COVID-19 Infection

The Ministry of Health has issued specific guidelines on the use of supervised RATs for patients that fulfill certain criteria.

Criteria for a funded Supervised RAT:

• Covid-19 symptoms (fever, runny nose, sore/scratchy throat, new or worsening cough, shortness of breath)
• Household contact of someone who has COVID-19 (Day 3 & 10)
• People who are required to have a test under a mandatory testing order (eg. MIQ or border workers)

If you wish to have a supervised RAT test for other reasons (being a close contact without symptoms or a casual contact, locations of interest, workplace surveillance, domestic travel, for private hospital visits/procedures), please note that this is unfunded and a standard medical consultation fee of $85 applies).

If you require a medicate certificate certifying that you have undergone a supervised RAT test and have returned a negative result, this can be provided at an additional cost of $30. Please double check all details are correct prior to leaving the clinic. A copy of the certificate will also be emailed to you.

The doctor may offer a PCR test if there is clinical suspicion of COVID despite 2x negative RATs, and where it will benefit you and help in the management of your condition.

What is the process?

When attending your swab appointment;

1. PLEASE WEAR A MASK.
2. PLEASE OBSERVE SOCIAL DISTANCING.
3. On arrival, please sanitize your hands and report to reception. We have a separate waiting area and room for your test which will be done by a doctor, who can also provide general medical advice and answer any questions you may have.
